If you have existing workloads that you would like to migrate onto your cluster, Project vJailBreak can help. Project vJailbreak is an open source tool built by Platform9 to perform at scale migrations of virtual machines from your existing VMware environment to Private Cloud Director.
You can live migrate or cold migrate virtual machines from any VMware environment to Private Cloud Director using vJailbreak.
When the source VMs move to PCD, they will retain their IP address and any required networking information
Any required conversion from VMware tools to corresponding drivers required for Private Cloud Director is fully handled by vJailbreak. So there's nothing you need to do other than configure it with the right source and destination information and then just watch the migrations happen!
Head over to the Project vJailbreak GitHub repository to download the appliance image. The appliance is packaged as an OVA that you can deploy into your Private Cloud Director environment. Note that vJailbreak should have access to your storage network to efficiently migrate VM data over during the data copy phase.
As your vJailbreak appliance loads, you'll see the instructions to access its user interface, where you can specify your source VMware environment information, as well as the information of your new Private Cloud Director cluster.
With this information specified, you can now initiate migrations from vJailbreak user interface. You can choose to live migrate or cold migrate virtual machines based on your requirements.
vJailbreak is tested with and supports vCenter version 6.7 or greater today.
