# Create Windows VM from ISO

This document describes steps to create a Windows Virtual Machine in <code class="expression">space.vars.product\_name</code> using an ISO.

There are two mechanisms to do this.

1. [Create a windows VM directly from an ISO](/private-cloud-director/2025.2/tutorials/create-windows-vm-from-iso/creating-a-windows-virtual-machine--vm--from-an-iso-image.md) - This is a more direct and easier mechanism to create a VM without requiring to create an image first.
2. [Create a windows image from an ISO then create a VM from the image ](/private-cloud-director/2025.2/tutorials/create-windows-vm-from-iso/creating-a-windows-virtual-machine--vm--from-an-iso-image4io.md)- This is a more indirect path where you will create a windows VM image first using a windows ISO, then create a VM using that image.
