Create Snapshot of Instance
You can create a snapshot of an instance as a backup of the instance at a given point in time. The snapshot captures the state of an instance at a given time. A snapshot can be used for instance recovery if there is a problem with an instance due to which the instance goes into an error state or the instance crashes.
You must be a self-service user or an administrator to perform this operation.
To create a snapshot of an instance, follow the steps given below.
- Log in to Clarity.
- Click Instances in the left panel.
- Select the checkbox for the instance of which you wish to take a snapshot.
- Click Snapshot on the toolbar seen above the list of instances.
- Enter the Image Name.
- Enter the Image description.
- Click Snapshot VM.
The snapshot of the instance is created and can be viewed on the Clarity UI, under Volumes & Snapshots> Volume Snapshots tab.
