Create Tenant

You can create a tenant when you want to assign a common set of resources to a group of users for a customer.

When you create a tenant, you must specify the quotas assigned to the tenant, the list of users for the tenant, the networks and the flavors that the available for use to the tenant.

You can create tenants for a temporary duration. The tenant is automatically deleted after the specified number of days of the tenant creation.

You must be an administrator to perform this operation.

To create a tenant, follow the steps given below.

  1. Log in to Clarity.
  2. Click Tenants and Users in the left panel.
  3. Click the Tenants tab.
  4. Click Create a New Tenant.
  5. Enter the Name for the tenant.
  6. Enter the Description for the tenant. This is an optional step, but is recommended to write a description for your own understanding about the purpose of the tenant.
  7. Select No Lease option under VM Lease, if you want the virtual machines on tenant to exist unless they are deleted.
Select the Default Lease days option under VM Lease, if you want the virtual machines to exist for a temporary duration. Specify the number of days for which the virtual machine must exist.
  8. Click Next.
  9. Specify the following quotas under Quotas.
    • To set all quotas to their default values, click Set to Defaults.
    • To set all quotas to unlimited, click Set to Unlimited.
    • To set all quotas to zero, click Set to 0.
    • To set individual quotas to unlimited, click the unlimited check box following the respective quota.
    Field Description
    Compute Quotas
    Core Total number of cores to be available to the tenant. This is the maximum number of cores available collectively to the users belonging to the tenant.
    RAM Total RAM to be available to the tenant. Select the unit of measurement for the RAM, after the numeral value.
    Storage Total ephemeral disk space to be available to the tenant.
    Instances Total number of virtual machine instances that can be created on the tenant.
    Block Storage Quotas
    Block Storage Total block or persistent storage space to the tenant. Select the unit of measurement for block storage, after the numeral value.
    Volumes Total number of volumes available to the tenant.
    Volume Snapshots Total number of volume snapshots available to the tenant.
    Max Volume Size Maximum size of volume in the tenant.
    Network Quotas
    Networks Total number of networks available to the tenant.
    Subnets Total number of subnets across all networks available to the tenant.
    Routers Total number of routers available to the tenant.
    Ports Total number of ports available to the tenant.
    Floating IPs Total number of floating IPs available to the tenant.
    Security Groups Total number of security groups available to the tenant.
    Security Group Rules Total number of security group rules available across all security groups on the tenant.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Check the networks to which the tenant has access.
  12. Click Next.
  13. Check the flavors available to the tenant.
  14. Click Next.
  15. Select the users from the list of users that can access the tenant.
  16. Select the role for each user in the Role check box.
  17. Click Create Tenant.

The tenant is created successfully.

If you want to assign additional networks or flavors to the tenant, you must create them and assign them to the tenant after creating the tenant.
