Create Floating IP Address And Assign to Instance

You can manually assign a floating IP address from a floating IP address pool to an instance.

Alternatively, you can create a floating IP address and assign it to an instance after creation. The external network, over which you to make the instance accessible, must be configured before you create the new floating IP address. The instance to which you want to assign the floating IP address must be created before you can assign the floating IP address to the instance.

You must be a self-service user or an administrator to perform this operation.

To create a floating IP address and assign the floating IP address to an instance, follow the steps given below.

  1. Log in to Clarity.
  2. Click Networks in the left panel.
  3. Click the Floating IPs tab.
  4. Click Assign New Floating IP. Assign Floating IP
  5. Select the Create new floating IP address check box.
  6. Select the external network from which the floating IP address is to be automatically allocated.
  7. Select the instance to which the newly created floating IP address is to be assigned. This is an optional step. If the instance is not specified, the floating IP address is created but not assigned.
  8. Click Assign Floating IP.

A new floating IP addresses is automatically allocated from the selected external network and assigned to the selected instance.

Unassign Floating IP Address from Instance

You can remove or disassociate a floating IP address that you no longer require for use.

You must be a self-service user or an administrator to perform this operation.

To remove or disassociate a floating IP address, follow the steps given below.

  1. Log in to Clarity.
  2. Click Networks in the left panel.
  3. Click the Floating IPs tab. Dissociate Floating IP
  4. Select the check boxes for the floating IP addresses that you want to dissociate.
  5. Click Remove Floating IP on the toolbar seen above the list of security groups.
  6. Click Delete Floating IP on the message if you are sure that you want to delete the selected floating IPs.

The selected floating IPs are dissociated and the disassociated floating IPs are available to be assigned to other instances.

Delete Floating IP Address

You can delete a floating IP address that you no longer require for use. You can delete multiple floating IP addresses at a time.

You must be a self-service user or an administrator to perform this operation.

To delete one or more floating IP addresses, follow the steps given below.

  1. Log in to Clarity.
  2. Click Networks in the left panel.
  3. Click the Floating IPs tab. Dissociate Floating IP
  4. Select the check boxes for the floating IP addresses that you want to delete.
  5. Click Delete Floating IP on the toolbar seen above the list of security groups.
  6. Click Delete Floating IP on the message if you are sure that you want to delete the selected security groups.

The selected floating IP addresses are deleted and the deleted floating IP addresses are no longer available for use.
